The project attempts to implement at most Your requirements, which is the design of a modern 4-car garage with a second-story guest house, along with backyard and pool areas.
The overall design aims to create a modern building and to enclose a private entertaining space for the family, which has the pool as a centerfold with all other areas organized around it.
The first story of the newly designed building houses a maximum of 4 cars, and is accessible both from back alley and from house-side driveway. The garage is equipped with tool cabinets, a workbench and a sink, which is equipped with a retractable hose for car-washing.
The second story flat consist of a bedroom with a common living room/kitchen/dining room area with 1.5 baths and a pantry. Right off the living room there is a balcony overlooking the pool. The second story flat can be accessed by a stair and an elevator, which have two options of entrance organization – Option 1 gives the upstairs flat an independent entrance from the alley thus making it more self-contained, while Option 2 keeps the access private - through the backyard. On the roof solar panels for heating up the pool water could be placed.
The outdoor entertaining area is situated between the garage and the new pool, and is shaded by a decorative pergola, which gives the exterior a cabana\pool house feel. The exterior entertaining area is equipped with a fireplace and is directly connected to the pool via a children’s pool (shallow depth) with Jacuzzi jets, which can convert it into a hot tub for use by adults. Right next to the entertaining area there is a wet bar with bar-stool seating area.
The exterior dining area is situated on the right of the existing house’s entrance and is also covered by a sun-shading pergola. It is equipped with a barbeque and its close proximity to the wet bar makes it easy to use and maintain.
The pool has two levels – a shallow one, acting as a child-safety buffer and as a in-pool bar with built-in bar stools, and a deeper one for swimming. The sun area deck with lounge chairs is situated right next to the pool with a slight overhang which gives it a more contemporary look. Keeping child-safety in mind, the entrance to the Sun area (and thus deeper part of the pool) can be easily blocked by a low decorative gate.
The overall exterior and interior design attempts to give the new garage building and back yard a bright, open and timeless look with some contemporary touches. The exterior material finishes used are stucco and natural wood siding for the new building and wooden deck and natural stone patio for the exterior flooring.
I hope you like my design :)
