Whew, This Basement of yours has been a fun puzzle. I Started on your lay out early in the contest. And started thinking through the relocation of the bath space. I originally put it close to the New Utility space , just trying to group all of the supplies and drains together. After you sent in the other information I scrapped that plan and moved on to a lay out close to yours. Holding that bath space was difficult. In this plan I pushed the Sauna into that back work room space on your plan. It keeps the bath door private from the main area and gives more of a spa feeling with the bench. I hope you like the openness in the Pantry / Work area now. The back area would be all shelving and has the new window to add natural light into the space.
I’m showing the darker doors you suggested, however It would liven up the space to add the mirrors on a few. The floors I would like to suggest would be an engineered hardwood to blend with the door stain and then the treads of the new stairs. The new Stair Rails that I like for this space are the Cable Rail with the metal hand rail. ( Outwater Plastics p. U-981 )
I’m showing an option for closing off the toy storage with three sliders. I would like the larger scale Barn Door rails attached to the ceiling to let some of the natural light from the windows to flow onto the ceiling. ( Outwater also has those but not in the currant catalogue ) The Doors can be made of Lucite or possibly a metal laminate mounted to luan with a wood frame to match the storage cubbies.
You’ll notice large boxes in the perspective drawings. My design program only has a treadmill and a bike so I blocked out the space required for your equipment and Sauna. I hope you love your new space. I wanted the space to be able to grow with you, and have plenty of storage.
