What was attractive in the first place about this project was the architectural quality of the layout and the well educatated client profile.
Out of condescension for the team that originally designed the project I tried that any amendment that I proposed to be a step forward in the evolution of the apartment layout scheme, I tried to not deny it in any way, but only to "mature" it (as a good wine).
Briefly: I in the basement area I modified the hobby room in wich where I integrated wine showcases and I separated the pantry into compartments and displaced it in a straight line (as in vegetable closet, canning cupboard etc. .)
I increased the Zen garden wich illuminates the gym and screened the access to the bedroom, as this helps the ladder to become a singular object that projects itsefl on a blank screen and not on a wall that has already an object displaced on it (in this case - the door).
I proceeded in the same way for the bedroom from the ground floor.
I reconfigured the wardrobe area from the ground floor (as requested in the brief) following the same concept `box in box / house in house`; a box covered by a solid finish as exposed concrete, on which to expose art as a contemporary art gallery. Also I fallowed the concept no doors in sight as you enter the house.
The initial concept for the living room I figuered it was about a lot of light and transparency. In the same time the living room area needs to be sheltered and have a cozy feeling. In this area I lowered the window frame facing the driveway. You also mentioned that the living room area it rather a `light` structure in this architectural compositon. In order to give its deserved stabilty I added the concrete wall. This also supports the canopy that I extended over the entire barbeque area.
Regarding the sun/privacy cocern I also suggested a solar panels system wich can bedisplayed over the whole glased area.
I tried to follow the same principles for the exterior: a transparent ground floor, an opaque second floor above it covered with a warm cladding – wood finish and an upper floor wich combines these two states: half-opaque facing north and opened to the south.
