Hello, I am remodeling my home. Although the house nests in the midst of rolling hills, I am looking for a contemporary design; I love the look and feeling of some of the contemporary hotels and resorts that are favored today. Clean and refreshing, with a bit of luxury to offset potential sterility.
The new living room (which is the room I would like you to focus on) is about 33x17 feet, and is part of an extremely open concept. The room opens up Eastward, culminating in a large, 12 foot (aprox) window-wall. One can see panoramic views of a bay, as well as semi-pastoral, semi-urban views. There is often a lot of natural light throughout this space.
The living room features a high, sloping ceiling (around 20 feet high, angling down to a 10' height about half the length of the room) and a Linear Burner System that is to be a focal point of the room. My initial thought was to have a translucent, smooth stone (like Lumix) which can be backlit with LED lights. I was also thinking of incorporating water into the design. Of course, your thoughts are appreciated.
Towards the window, I would like to have groups of seating, comfortable (most importantly), cosmopolitan and inviting.
If you have any more questions, I will be happy to answer as we progress.
