This a 500 sq ft one bedroom apartment in a large 129 acre self contained community built by the Metropolitan Life insurance company in 1939. The bathroom and kitchen need a face lift and a proposed walk-in closet for the bedroom needs review. Plumbing and electrical renovations were completed and replacement windows installed less than 7 years ago. A lack of closet space is the biggest problem - one small coat closet at the entrance door, a small bedroom closet, and a small linen closet in the hall outside the bathroom.
In the kitchen we want to replace the old metal cabinets and butcher block counter tops and make room for a larger refrigerator. We need color and lighting, floor tile, counter top and back splash suggestions. We like the old stove and are considering keeping it, though that might conflict with a fresh new look. Currently, if not stored in the oven, pots and pans spill out onto the living room floor.
We want to keep the current bathroom toilet, sink and tub but replace the medicine cabinet. We look forward to floor, wall tile and lighting ideas. Currently medications vitamins, cosmetics, are stored and retrieved from one shelf in the linen closet just outside the bathroom.
Expanded closet space has already been proposed for the bedroom. We would like to improve on the idea if possible. Somewhere in the design a full length mirror is desired.
Furniture will be purchased for the first time in this apartment. Absolutely nothing in the uploaded snapshots is a prize possession. We tend to accumulate books for course work, junk mail for shredding (there is a concern about identity theft), and paper bills. Shoes, clothing and laundry have no easy "home". We want a clean overall look. Currently we are living in a storage closet.
