It is my game room/bar/media room that I use every day. The room is basically a total re-model and about 450 square feet. The only things that are staying in the room is the leather couch, the bar stools, the clock by the bar and the TV. I like a contemporary look, clean lines, bright colors and jewel tones but not something that goes out of date quickly. I love sitting on my couch to look outside the glass doors and I love to entertain. This is an adult only home - no kids live here so doesn’t need to be kid friendly. PLEASE don't make this a masculine room. I would love something that has a touch of elegance but still comfortable and inviting, perhaps with a little whimsy or sense of humor.
South wall = Because of the flooring we can't move the plumbing or electrical. Bar should have sink, bar refrigerator, icemaker and small wine cooler (18 bottles). The 3 bar stools can be a different color. There is not enough room now between the bar and the couch for a person to walk by. I am looking at blue lemurian granite or something else unique for the countertop. I linked a photo of the granite. Perhaps the upper ledge of the bar could “float” on posts and be either colored tempered glass or another piece of granite? I want everyone to see the granite from everywhere in the room. Perhaps a 3D panel or other textured look on the outside of bar? No mirrors please.
East wall = This is the wall you see when you first come in the room and it needs something interesting. Windows can be bigger.
North Wall = TV location and alcove. I don’t need the cabinets. Bigger closets, perhaps?
West Wall - I would like to put a gas fireplace in the room - contemporary ribbon flame type and this seems like the best location. Most fireplaces have a depth of 18 inches and this interior wall is only 5 inches thick. I added links for potential fireplaces. So the fireplace will stick out of the wall as much as 13 inches – how do I handle that? Floating shelf below or hearth?
Floors - HATE BRICK. I have hardwood floors that go up to this room and thought about just continuing the floors into the room. This room leads out to a patio and pool and not sure the wood floors will handle wet feet. I am thinking 4 inch cans for ceiling lights. I thought perhaps pendants or a fun chandelier over the bar? Examples of fun lights are linked. I need a ceiling fan as well.
I have included photos of art work that may go into the room – they are examples of the colors I like. I also included lots of photos of the room as is and a very basic drawing of room with rough measurements.
Thanks to all for competing! Can't wait to see what you all come up with!
