I like the Old South charm, especially on the wide porch version. If cost were no object we might want to build a porch in this style. However, I think a smaller portico style is a better investment right now, and this design is less practical than the alternatives. It would require widening the foundation of the existing stoop, and the wood fencing on the roof would have relatively high maintenance costs. My brother pointed out that if you stare at it enough it looks like the mouth of a hippo (not necessarily a bad thing!)
I THINK this might be my second favorite but it's hard to tell because I don't think the designer captured the appropriate dimensions of the house. The roof isn't tall enough. Also, I like the concept of the portico and porch, but I don't like the little fence on top of the roof porch, it makes the whole thing seem really busy and it feels fussy in a "this is unnecessary and doesn't match" sort of way. The house is simpler than that and I think it requires a simpler design. Again, I have no idea if it's buildable.
