This 2000 square foot house is in the woods near the Delaware River. Bears deer and turkeys roam there. The house was built 2001 atop the foundation of an old hunting cabin. The front of the house from the road is nondescript. looking at if from the road, you are facing Northeast. The house really opens to the back, facing the woods where there is a mountain fed pond 75x25 rich with frogs and turtles. Out back overlooking the pond is a sun deck.
The work we are considering involves the right side of the house facing the driveway. Right now if one looks out those kitchen windows facing ESE, you look at a gravel driveway area and two out buildings. Our idea is to add a deck out here and to eliminate the gravel drive way area and make a lawn and landscaped area.
This new deck would span from the driveway door to the front enclosed porch. Perhaps incorporating the tree that is near the house. . We envision a low lying deck only a couple feet off the ground . This would step down to the new lawn area.
Part of the fix, part of the problem, is the enclosed front porch that we rarely use. The entrance is awkward and the space is dark. We would like to renovate this front porch space (we know we want to eliminate the screening open this porch up). as we add the new side deck attached. The porch, the new deck, the driveway door all need to be balanced and connective.Plant some birch trees?
Below the current screened in porch in front of the house will be the new place for two cars to be parked.
